“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…thirty years later…”
Now that we got the news today that the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VII” film will be set 30 years after “Return of the Jedi”, we can start the heavy speculating. Much like we did when Disney bought Lucasfilm, and when J.J. Abrams was announced as director, and when it’s Thursday.
With that specific detail of a 30 year gap between the films it does get the questions forming. What happens in those years without Empire control? Does something even more sinister rise now that the Empire has fallen? Do the Hutts and other gangsters make a play for a bigger portion of the galaxy? Will Luke have started a new Jedi order? What kind of Jedi will they be?
It seems that regardless there will be conflict of some kind, conflict over a new religion, clashes for control of planet systems, battles with bounty hunters fighting for the highest bidder, a new kind of war in the stars. Get it?
