If you’re a fan of animation, chances are you’ve heard of Aardman Studios, the creative minds behind Chicken Run and, of course, the iconic Wallace & Gromit. Known for their meticulous stop-motion animation, Aardman consistently brightens the world with their delightful creations. Lucky for us, they’ve decided to kick off 2025 with a brand-new Wallace & Gromit adventure, set to premiere on Netflix. And let me tell you—it’s the perfect way to start the new year.

So, what have Wallace (voiced by Ben Whitehead) and Gromit been up to lately? Well, they’re back to their usual antics—this time, catching jewel thieves. One particular culprit, Feathers McGraw, might sound familiar. He’s the notorious penguin from The Wrong Trousers, released back in 1993. While it’s been 31 years for us, for Wallace and Gromit, it feels just like yesterday.

After their heroic escapades, Wallace returns to his inventing while Gromit patiently tolerates his creations and tends to the garden. But Wallace has a grand plan to help out his old friend. Enter Norbot (voiced by Reece Shearsmith), a gnome-like invention designed to be the perfect helper for anyone needing a hand. This ingenious creation attracts plenty of attention—including that of Feathers, who’s still locked up in the zoo for his previous crimes.

Though imprisoned, Feathers concocts a devious plan to turn Norbot evil, break out of the zoo, and, of course, get his flippers on the coveted blue diamond once again. His scheme goes off without a hitch—but will he truly escape unscathed? Wallace and Gromit are hot on his trail, and they’re not ones to back down from a challenge.

Written by Mark Burton and Nick Park, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl proves that even after 35 years, these beloved characters can still bring boundless joy to audiences. At just under 80 minutes, the film is a tightly packed gem filled with humor, action, and a generous sprinkling of Easter eggs for die-hard fans and newcomers alike.

Aardman’s signature claymation adds a heartwarming texture to the story, evoking a sense of nostalgia akin to visiting an old friend. The film strikes a perfect balance between humor and storytelling, with clever references—including a fantastic James Bond homage—that will resonate with viewers of all ages.

The briskly paced narrative builds to an exhilarating final act, packed with high-energy chase sequences and action beats that might even make Tom Cruise grin. While it doesn’t rely on surprises, Vengeance Most Fowl dazzles with its visual achievements and tightly crafted, playful script. It recaptures the magic of earlier Wallace & Gromit adventures without feeling like a recycled reboot.

Much like Paddington, the charm of Wallace & Gromit lies in their ability to fill your heart with pure joy. Vengeance Most Fowl delivers this in abundance, making it the perfect way to start the new year—with a big, warm smile on your face.
